You don’t have to be a chef or even experienced in the kitchen to decorate a cake, cookie, cupcake or brownie. The Wilton Method of Cake Decorating will teach you all of the techniques to make treats that will amaze your friends and family —even if you’ve never decorated before!

You’ll find that it is easy to perfect every technique—we’ve organized each lesson to help you build skills at the right pace. We’ve even added more practice time with instructors to help you succeed!

The first course, Course 1: Decorating Basics, is your starting pointand will cover topics such as fundamentals in baking a cake, making icing and using a decorating bag. From there you will use a variety of decorating tips to make stars, borders, flowers and pipe messages.

Once the first series of classes is completed you can extend the excitement and fun by taking one of our three other classes, Course 2: Flowers and Cake Design, Course 3: Gum Paste and Fondantor Course 4: Advanced Gum Paste Flowers.

Flowers and Cake Design encompasses both traditional and contemporary design. It focuses on making flowers primarily with royal icing. Additionally, you will learn how to choose colors for your cake as well as positioning the elements of decoration – the message, flowers and embellishments, borders and side treatments – which will all impact the final look and ultimately the success of your cake design.

Gum Paste and Fondant is a collection of the best techniques from two current classes into a fun and challenging experience. This class teaches you how to cover cakes with fondant, make fondant bows and borders and excel in gum paste flowers.

NEW!!! There is now an Advanced Gum Paste Flowers Course to bring your decorations to a whole new level! Discover how to create life-like blossoms, flowers and leaves for floral arrangements that top the most beautiful cakes. You’ll be amazed at the artistic quality you can achieve as you craft Gerbera daisies, briar roses, Stargazer lilies and more.

Each Wilton Method class is held here in Revelstoke at Chantilly Kitchen Bed n Bath where you’ll receive individual instruction from Colleen, our trained Wilton Method teacher and an attractive, full color publication detailing step-by-step instructions. And, at the end of every course you will leave with a cake specifically designed and decorated by you.

Check out some of the amazing work from past students on our Facebook page here! (you don’t need an account to do so)

Our instructor, Colleen Morrison, was born in Hamilton, Ontario and became intrigued with cake decorating while working at a wedding store. After living in Alberta for 30 years, she moved to Revelstoke with her husband in 2007 when he retired. She decided to take her interest in cakes to the next step after learning about the Wilton Courses offered in Kamloops (the closest location at the time). She enjoyed the lessons, but not the travel! Believing that the people of Revelstoke would enjoy the experience, she and Deenie decided to offer the Wilton Method Courses through Chantilly Kitchen Bed n Bath. Colleen continues to update her training to bring us fantastic ideas and techniques from Wilton!

“The students have been so much fun and have inspired me. It is a night out for them and they learn a lot and meet friends that they have something in common with. Some of the cakes they have made have been impressive.” - Cakes shown were created by past students right here at Chantilly.

Once you have completed any one of these courses, you’ll have gained the confidence to decorate cakes your family and friends will enjoy for years to come. You’ll also have had a great time sharing the excitement of decorating with other students. It’s an experience that over 4 million people have enjoyed in Wilton Method Courses. Come and join the fun! We hope to see you soon!
